TACHE Activities

The Tyler Area Christian Home Educators association is a group of Christian parents and children joining together in fellowship and learning. Our activities provide a sense of community that is really unmatched anywhere else.

Each of the Activity Coordinators needs volunteers to help -- don't hesitate. Remember, we are all volunteers seeking the best for the children. We encourage our members to create events they would like to attend!

    Kick-Off

    • TACHE sponsors a school year kick-off each August at such places as Pine Cove, The Villages Waterpark and Splash Kingdom

    Field Day

    • Usually held in April, and offers fun and games for elementary children 2-12. Teens are encouraged to help run events and receive community service hours.

    ETSF Academic Rodeo

    • Currently there are 14 competitive events.  Preliminary rounds of some contests and submission of some entries occur in November or December with the conclusion of contests occurring in late January and early February.  Winners of the Academic Rodeo contests are recognized at an Awards Celebration in late February.

    Soccer

    • TACHE members ages K-12th grade (ages 4-19) are egilible

    • Our season runs through March and April (8 weeks; off for Spring Break)

    Park Day

    • Regular meetups at parks in the Tyler Area

    Elementary Field Trips

    •  Fun, Interesting, Educational for grades K-5

    Band

    • For ages 10-18, visit our Band page for more information

    Valentine Party

    • The kids have lots of fun making Valentines to be distributed to nursing homes, veterans and/or hospital patients.  Construction paper, crayons, cutouts, etc. are used to show others our love. Occurs in February. Usually the kids take home a bag of sweetness from this fun time, too!

    Teen Hang Outs (13-19 years old)

    • May include sports, field trips, fellowships, etc.

    Junior/Senior High Field Trips

    • Fun, Interesting, Educational for grades 6-12

    Career Field Trips

    • Field trips designed to explore different career options and industries

    Prom     

    • Annual formal event for homeschool teens in East Texas

    Graduation

    • What an exciting time to share with our TACHE Seniors and their families!  The Commencement Ceremony is not to be missed by our younger members, either, as it vividly demonstrates the goal (refreshments are great, too!).  Traditional, the Seniors are featured in a slide show before the parents present their diplomas.  To be held in May.

    Book Club

    • Fun, Food and Fellowship for Moms only

    Men of TACHE

    • Semi-annual events for TACHE Dads

    TACHE Used Book Sale

    • Many, many members and their teenagers make this annual event a real blessing to the community at large.  Thousands of books are tagged, sorted and sold.  Our sale is usually in May.
